World Rabies Day Celebrates 5 Years

September 28, 2011 marked the fifth anniversary of World Rabies Day, the most successful collaborative effort yet to raise global awareness about rabies prevention.

Since the inaugural campaign in 2007, more than 2000 events in 150 countries have helped to vaccinate 7.7 million animals, and an estimated 182 million people have learned about how to prevent the disease.

World Rabies Day events are held in all sectors, from ministries of health and agriculture to veterinary colleges and local groups. The campaign facilitates action and attracts political support to give rabies the attention it deserves.

The coordinating team would particularly like to thank all volunteers, coordinators, and partners around the world who continue to make World Rabies Day such an enormous success. Click here to read more...
